We all need a bit of me-time and TLC every now and then to recoup and relax. In fact, we need it a lot more than just every now and then. With the kind of stressed-out lives that we lead, it can become increasingly difficult to not have the time for ourselves. In fact, most of us probably have a very hard time going to the spa to de-stress and find some relaxation. Of course, you can achieve the same by having your own personalized self-care routine. Here’s how:

Me time Balance Relaxation

We all need a bit of me-time and TLC every now and then to recoup and relax. In fact, we need it a lot more than just every now and then. With the kind of stressed-out lives that we lead, it can become increasingly difficult to not have the time for ourselves. In fact, most of us probably have a very hard time going to the spa to de-stress and find some relaxation. Of course, you can achieve the same by having your own personalized self-care routine. Here’s how:

Draw Boundaries

To achieve balance in our lives, we have to learn how to draw boundaries and to a lot of us, that doesn’t come so easily. In fact, there’s a good chance that you have to actively work towards it. You can draw boundaries by not taking on more than what your job requires or by telling friends and family you need a bit of me-time. Sure, you might have to be a bit assertive, but that’s the price you have to pay to achieve relaxation.

Take a Leisurely Stroll

Go for a walk underneath the night sky. You could walk in the park, or near the beach if that tickles your fancy. In fact, you can also go for a walk early in the morning. The goal is to relax a bit and take in your surroundings. You can close your eyes and take a deep breath. Take in the fresh air and let go of all the negative energy. You might want to do it every day to get the most out of it. You’ll be amazed at the difference.

Get off Social Media

Do you know what threatens the balance in our lives? It’s social media. We have this constant need to check our phones for the latest updates. We want to see what pictures our friend has put up or how many likes we have received on our latest posts. We also tend to compare our lives with those of our friends. And while all this may seem harmless, the fact is that it messes with our me-time. So the next time you opt for some relaxation, be sure to get rid of push notifications from these apps.

Practice Meditation

At least once a week, try to get into meditation. It has so many benefits for your mind and body, that it can be difficult to decipher. Not only does it promote relaxation, but it can also, help you learn to live in the present without having to worry about what will happen tomorrow. So be sure to incorporate it in your routine. You might want to join a class if you’re completely new to the idea as that would help you get more into the zone.

Make Time for Loved Ones

While one of the ways to practice self-care is to draw boundaries and not let anyone else take advantage of you, it's equally important to have loved ones in your life. You cannot go through life alone. By leaning on friends and family, talking to them, and hanging out with them, you can achieve a sense of belonging. Moreover, it will elevate your mood and allow you to become happier.

Take Vacations

Most of us tend to put vacations on the back burner until we get time. Somehow, it’s never the right time. It’s either too expensive, or you don’t get leaves from work or the weather is too bad. As a result, most of us go on for decades without going on a break. Well, if you’re interested in a personalized self-care routine, you might want to shake things up a bit and plan vacations. It doesn’t necessarily have to be cross-country or international ones It could just mean going over to the next state or the nearest order for a little fun time with the family.

Find New Hobbies

If you feel like you’re stuck in a rut with no way out, please consider finding a hobby. You can enroll in a pottery class, take up art classes, or fabric painting to pass the time. Even if you don’t feel you have passion for it, do it anyway to get some relaxation from your hectic routine.

Pre-Sleep Hygiene

Pre-sleep hygiene involves essential practices to prepare your body and mind for a peaceful night's sleep. Establishing a bedtime routine and practicing pre-sleep hygiene will upgrade your lifestyle. You can draw up a hot bath before sleeping, and immerse yourself in herbal bath teas to get rid of the sore muscles and enjoy some me-time. The herbal bath teas will help you relax and detoxify while giving your skin a youthful glow.
